About Colette Beighley
Sewing and quilting have been lifelong passions, but I truly found my creative home in longarm quilting. It’s the perfect blend of artistry and precision! I quilt on a Gammill Statler, a machine that challenges and inspires me creatively. There’s always more to learn, which keeps me engaged and growing.
When I was nine, I asked for a toy sewing machine that I saw in the Sears Christmas catalog. (It really worked!) My mom thought of something better than that and began to teach me to sew on a real sewing machine. I fell in love! In high school, I took four years of sewing classes — from clothing construction to tailoring — and was making all my own clothes. I made my first quilt when I was in college. Many years later, I took up quilting again but was surprised that the part of quilting I liked best was “drawing” on the quilt with stitches after the quilt top was complete. I couldn’t wait to finish the piecing so I could quilt it. At that point, I knew a longarm was in my future.
Since purchasing my Gammill Statler and launching Quilted Mitten Studios in 2016, I’ve had the joy of partnering with fellow quilters to add the final artful touches to their work. Whether it’s a custom design or a beautifully balanced edge-to-edge pattern, my goal is the same: to help bring your creative vision to life.
Quilting is more than a skill to me—it’s a creative partnership, and I’m honored to be part of that journey with every quilt I finish.
